Industrial harmony: MWUN, AGL reaffirm commitment to mutual partnership

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has paid a courtesy visit to the management of African Logistics Global (AGL) in Apapa, Lagos, reaffirming their commitment to mutual partnership and industrial harmony.

The MWUN delegation, led by its President-General, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, was warmly received by the  Managing Director of AGL, who congratulated the newly elected Union executives on their victory and expressed appreciation for the enduring partnership between the two organizations in the maritime sector.

Speaking, Mrs C. M Okwuose, Human Resource Manager, AGL expressed her hope that the synergy and industrial cooperation would continue to thrive under the new leadership.

Comrade Bunu expressed gratitude to the AGL MD and management team, noting that it’s rare for employers to commend a labor union. However, AGL’s support and cooperation with the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) had been exemplary. Comrade Bunu appreciated AGL’s pragmatic support, which is rooted in a spirit of comradeship. He prayed that this spirit would endure.

He further thanked AGL for their genuine efforts and benevolence towards MWUN’s leadership, acknowledging the strong partnership between the two organizations. Comrade Bunu emphasized that MWUN remains committed to this partnership, ensuring mutual benefits for both parties in the maritime sector.

In an e-signed release by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN, made available to Nationupdate, Comrade Bunu reaffirmed MWUN’s determination to strengthen the partnership, recognizing AGL’s supportive role in promoting the dignity of labor. He appreciated AGL’s recognition of the Union’s efforts and looked forward to continued collaboration.

The Shipping Branch President, Comrade Tajudeen Abass, echoed the PG’s sentiments, thanking the MD and management for their longstanding relationship with the Union.

He appreciated AGL’s recognition of the in-house Union’s supportiveness and cooperation. Comrade Abass urged the management to always follow internal dispute resolution procedures and involve the Union’s highest echelon when necessary.

Abass also thanked AGL for supporting workers’ training and development, appealing for continued industrial synergy. He requested a bumper package for workers this year, appreciating AGL’s usual generosity during the Yuletide.

In response, Okwose, acknowledged that issues arise between management and union but emphasized that they are always resolved amicably. She expressed AGL’s commitment to partnership, discipline, and commitment to duty.

Mrs. Okwose welcomed the new Union leadership, looking forward to positive changes and continued collaboration.
