Dead driver, wrecked Jeep at Lagos Bus Stop recovered

LASEMA Response Team recovering wreckage of the accident at 7&8 Bus Stop

The lifeless body of an adult male from an incident scene at 7 & 8 Bus Stop, inward Lagos Airport, where a Toyota Jeep rammed a truck from behid has been recovered by the by Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

In a release made available to Nation Update through Nosa Okunbor, Head Public Affairs-LASEMA, the accident which occurred at the late hours of Friday 20th August, 2021 elicited the distress call received by LASEMA at about 11:50p.m via it’s 767/112 Toll Free Emergency Response Lines, leading to the overnight operation by the LASEMA Response Team, that terminated at about 01:15a.m Saturday morning.

Though the seriously injured passenger in the Jeep had been rescued before arrival of the Agency’s response team at the scene, thorough professionalism ensured family members of the deceased was quickly contacted, enabling prompt recovery and evacuation of the corpse which was duely handed over to the family.

Situation report given on the incident at the above location by the DG/CEO of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu states:

“On getting to the scene, the LRT discovered that a Toyota Jeep BDG732FD had an accident with a truck by running into it from behind.

“Further investigation revealed that the accident was due to reckless driving.

“Unfortunately, driver of the Toyota Jeep Lost his life, while the passenger sustained serious injuries and had been taken to the hospital before arrival of the LRT.

“The LRT team deployed the Agency’s light tow truck to manage the situation.

“The victim has been bagged and handed over to the family, while the vehicle has been recovered from the road to a layby with the agency’s light tow truck.

“Operations concluded. LRT heading back to base,” he stated.
