Ododo seeks Apostolic Church’s prayers for Kogi’s peace, prosperity

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has urged the leadership and members of The Apostolic Church to sustain their prayers for the peace, prosperity and greatness of the state.

Ododo made the appeal on Sunday at the maiden convention of The Apostolic Church, Lokongoma Area, Lokoja, where he was represented by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo.

The governor said his administration was steadily repositioning Kogi State through major development projects and initiatives aimed at restoring its potential and improving the wellbeing of residents.

He cited the Lokoja International Airport, the ultramodern market, as well as ongoing interventions in education and healthcare, among other projects, as evidence of the administration’s development drive.

Ododo said the theme of the convention aligned with his administration’s vision of repositioning Kogi as a major destination for development and investment in Nigeria.

“The theme of this convention resonates with our administration’s drive to reposition Kogi State and make it the epicentre of development in Nigeria. Our state is accepting the charge to arise and shine,” he said.

According to him, the state would soon witness the completion and commissioning of major projects that would further strengthen its economic and social infrastructure.

“In a couple of years, we’ll boast of an International Airport, and in a couple of months, we’ll be launching a safer and more commercially viable ultramodern market.

“We’re building schools, primary healthcare centres, clinics and hospitals. We’re constructing roads and providing other social amenities for the benefit of our people,” Ododo said.

Handing over of the SUV key to the Pastor

As part of his support for the convention, the governor donated ₦5 million to the church and an SUV for the use of its newly appointed Superintendent.

Announcing the donations, Fanwo said the governor remained committed to maintaining a cordial relationship with religious institutions and ensuring that people of different faiths could worship freely across the state.

“The Governor has also sent in a donation of ₦5 million to support this convention. In addition, the Governor has donated an SUV for the use of the new Superintendent.

“Despite being a Muslim, the Governor is a friend of the Church, and he’ll continue to provide a conducive environment for all faiths to thrive,” he said.

Responding, the Vice Chairman of the LAWMNA Territory, who represented its Chairman, Pastor A.B. Geoffrey, thanked the governor for his support and described the gesture as an encouragement to the church.

He assured Ododo of the church’s continued prayers and support for his administration and the development of Kogi State.

Earlier, the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Pastor Mrs. Folashade Ayoade, and the Auditor-General for Local Government, Hon. Yakubu Adabenege, commended The Apostolic Church for its consistent prayers for the governor and the state government.

Other senior government officials at the convention included Hon. Femi Obanewo and Hon. Dele Nihi, among others.

The convention provided an opportunity for the church and the state government to reaffirm their shared commitment to peace, good governance and the development of Kogi State.
