COVID-19: Doctors insist on Chloroquine for now

With the coronavirus pandemic currently holding the world in the jugular, many doctors have said that malaria drug hydroxychloroquine seems to be the most effective treatment for patients at the moment.

According to a publication of the  Daily Mail of UK which reported that a survey of 6,200 doctors around the globe have confirmed the efficacy in the use of  a combination of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and Azithromycin as effective in the treating of COVID-19 patients.Findings from  Sermo, the leading global social platform for physicians and largest health care professional survey company, which conducted the survey, Dr Murali Doraiswamy, urged that countries should take note of what was working for doctors and governments elsewhere and move quickly to adopt practices that were saving lives.

Presently, Nigeria has recorded 4 deaths while 210 are struggling for survival, US death toll has on the other hand, risen to 8,452 while globally, over one million persons have been infected with 64,675 death.

In other not to leave anything to chance, the  Federal Government last week granted the Lagos State government license to commence clinical trials of chloroquine in the treatment of COVID-19, the directive however came through the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
