NUJ Lagos sends Eid, Children’s Day message of hope, unity

The Nigeria Union of Journalists has congratulated Muslim faithful across the country on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir while also celebrating Nigerian children on the occasion of Children’s Day.

In a goodwill message jointly signed by the Chairman of the council, Adeleye Ajayi, and the Secretary, Tunde Olalere, the union described the twin celebrations as symbolic reminders of sacrifice, love, peace, compassion, and unity among Nigerians.

The council urged Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political differences, to continue promoting peaceful coexistence and national harmony for the collective progress of the country.

According to the union, the Eid-el-Kabir celebration offers another opportunity for citizens to reflect on the virtues of sacrifice, tolerance, and mutual understanding as exemplified in the teachings of Islam.

The NUJ further encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to strengthen bonds of friendship, community cooperation, and national unity.

The union also used the occasion of Children’s Day to celebrate Nigerian children, describing them as the pride, hope, and future leaders of the nation.

It stressed the need for parents, governments, schools, religious bodies, and other stakeholders to remain committed to the proper upbringing, education, and moral development of children across the country.

According to the statement, children deserve a peaceful, secure, and supportive environment that would enable them to develop into responsible and productive citizens.

The Lagos NUJ noted that investing in the welfare and future of children remains critical to national development and sustainable growth.

The union also appealed to leaders and citizens alike to continue promoting values that encourage discipline, integrity, hard work, and patriotism among the younger generation.

It added that the future of Nigeria largely depends on how well today’s children are nurtured and guided.

The statement concluded with prayers for peace, unity, progress, and prosperity in Nigeria while wishing Muslim faithful a successful Eid-el-Kabir celebration and Nigerian children a joyful and memorable Children’s Day.
