NLC’s Adeyanju calls for peace, end to insecurity, better welfare during Sallah

The Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Adewale Adeyanju, has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and hope as Muslims across the country celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.

In a Sallah message released to mark the celebration, Adeyanju urged citizens to remain optimistic despite the economic hardship and insecurity confronting the country, expressing confidence that Nigeria would soon overcome its current challenges.

The labour leader, who is also a former President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, said Nigerians must continue to develop positive attitudes toward the country and its leadership while remaining patient during what he described as a difficult but transitional period in the nation’s history.

According to him, the country appears to be gradually emerging from years of turbulence caused by insecurity, poverty, and economic instability.

Adeyanju noted that the Eid-el-Kabir celebration serves as a reminder of sacrifice, faith, and Allah’s mercy, urging Nigerians not to lose hope irrespective of prevailing challenges.

“The Almighty Allah is merciful and just. Nigerians must continue to remain hopeful because no difficult situation lasts forever,” he stated.

The labour leader acknowledged the hardship currently being experienced by many citizens, saying a large number of Nigerians now struggle daily to survive due to rising living costs and economic pressure.

He, however, expressed hope that ongoing reforms and sacrifices being made by citizens would eventually produce positive outcomes for the country.

Adeyanju also called on the Federal Government to urgently intensify efforts toward addressing insecurity and killings across different parts of the country, stressing that no nation can thrive under an atmosphere of fear and instability.

According to him, restoring security and improving the welfare of citizens remain critical to achieving sustainable national development.

The labour chieftain commended the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for reforms and initiatives within the maritime sector.

He also praised the leadership of the Nigerian Ports Authority, National Inland Waterways Authority, and the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, alongside other maritime stakeholders, for their contributions to the development of the sector.

Adeyanju prayed for wisdom and divine guidance for Nigeria’s leaders in steering the country toward peace, prosperity, and economic stability.

He also thanked Nigerians for their resilience, patience, and tolerance in coping with present realities, assuring them that brighter days lie ahead.

According to him, Nigerians would eventually have cause to celebrate and appreciate God’s mercy after overcoming the present economic and security challenges confronting the nation.
