Children’s Day: Hajia Ododo calls for collective responsibility in child development

The First Lady of Kogi State, Sefinat Ahmed Ododo, has congratulated children across the state on the occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, describing them as the true treasure and foundation of a brighter future.

In her goodwill message, Hajia Ododo said children remain humanity’s greatest blessing and the most valuable investment for sustainable national development, urging stakeholders to prioritise their welfare, education and moral upbringing.

She noted that Children’s Day should not only serve as a moment of celebration but also an opportunity for reflection on the collective responsibility of families, schools, governments, religious bodies and society in shaping responsible future leaders.

According to her, every child deserves access to quality education, proper healthcare, protection from abuse, equal opportunities and a supportive environment capable of helping them achieve their full potential.

The First Lady expressed delight at the brilliance, creativity, resilience and talents consistently displayed by children across Kogi State, assuring them that the administration of Governor Usman Ododo remains committed to policies and programmes aimed at improving their welfare and securing a better future for them.

She also commended parents, teachers, caregivers and child advocates for their sacrifices and unwavering commitment toward raising morally upright and enlightened children despite prevailing social and economic challenges.

Hajia Ododo encouraged children in the state to remain disciplined, focused and determined in their academic pursuits and personal development, while urging them to avoid negative influences capable of destroying their future.

She advised them to embrace hard work, integrity and positive values, reminding them that they possess the potential to become future leaders, innovators, professionals and nation-builders.

“As we celebrate our children today, let us renew our commitment to building a society where every child can live in peace, learn in safety and grow with confidence and hope. Our children are the pride of today and the foundation of tomorrow’s greatness,” she stated.

The First Lady also prayed for God’s protection, wisdom and guidance upon all children in Kogi State and wished them a memorable Children’s Day celebration.
