NIMASA DG Mobereola lauded for role in MWUN-Melsmore CBA signing

The Maritme Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has saluted the Director-General of Nigeria Maritme & Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, for his instrumental role in the signing of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with Melsmore Ltd.

The signed CBA establishes the operational framework for Union Workers at Melsmore Ltd, a Victoria Island-based shipping company operating in Nigeria’s maritime sector.

Comrade Bunu praises Dr. Mobereola as an exemplary NIMASA DG, citing his thoroughness, proactivity, discipline, and unwavering commitment to duty, which facilitated a successful agreement between MWUN and Melsmore Ltd.

In an e-signed release by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Dr. Mobereola’s efforts bridged the gap between MWUN and Melsmore Ltd, fostering a balanced agreement on Maritime Workers’ welfare. His involvement helped Melsmore Management recognize the value of unionized workers, aligning with industry standards and NIMASA regulations.

MWUN commends Dr. Mobereola and his team for their outstanding efforts in achieving this milestone agreement, ensuring fair treatment for all parties.

Comrade Bunu, a veteran sailor and maritime labour leader, expects stronger ties between NIMASA, MWUN, and Melsmore Ltd, following this breakthrough.

He also thanked Melsmore Ltd for their cooperation, emphasizing the importance of listening to workers’ welfare concerns.
