Ex-MWUN boss extols maritime icon, Prince Shittu’s leadership, legacy at 75

The former President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Prince Adeyanju Adewale, has felicitated with the President-Emeritus of the Association of Nigerian Clearing Agents(ANLCA), Comrade Prince Olayiwola Shittu, on his 75th birthday anniversary.

Comrade Adeyanju who is also the Vice President Global of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), stated that Prince Shittu began his early career with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), where he served with humility and distinction before his exit.

Went on to say the Oyo Prince pioneered ANCLA as its founding President, transforming the association into a paragon of excellence in Nigeria’s maritime space. He is a respected figure in the clearing and forwarding sector, where he established a reputation for innovation, leadership, and expertise.

Under his visionary leadership, ANCLA reached new heights, becoming one of Nigeria’s leading clearing agencies. His impact is undeniable, and it’s fitting to describe Prince Shittu as a reformer, transformer, and innovator who brought a touch of excellence to the profession.

“Today, I celebrate Prince Shittu our esteemed President-Emeritus. His outstanding achievements in ANCLA are truly remarkable, particularly in affiliating the Association with international bodies, earning him widespread recognition and accolades. As a dedicated and tireless worker, Prince Shittu is also a devoted philanthropist, having received numerous merit awards for his humanitarian services both locally and internationally.

“He embodies the values of grace, strength, integrity, and purpose, leaving an indelible mark on the maritime industry – a legacy that will stand the test of time.”

“Today, I celebrate him as President-Emeritus, who is simply known as “Prince Shittu”. Shittu’s indelible achievement in ANCLA, cannot be overemphasized; and by affiliating the Association with some bodies abroad won him so much accolades and that became one of his major international breakthroughs for ANCLA.

“Shittu, a committed and indefatigable worker is a goodly Philanthropist, whose humanitarian services had earned him many merit awards in the country and beyond; therefore, Shittu is not just a leader but a symbol of grace, strength, integrity and stability of purpose, which he selflessly brought into the maritme industry; a landmark that will endure his legacy with the taste of time,” Adeyanju stated.

He further said, “Indeed, the ‘Oyo Prince’ is a revered icon in the maritime community, with a global presence that has earned him international recognition.

“Once again, I extend my warmest congratulations to you on your special day. May the Almighty God continue to bless you with peace, joy, good health, prosperity, and longevity, as you enjoy the love and support of your family.”
