73 locally made guns, 891 cartridges concealed in bags of rice, 3 suspects in customs net

The drag net of the Nigerian Customs Service(NCS) has caught hold of three suspects in connection with 73 locally manufactured guns and 891 cartridges concealed in bags of locally produced rice grains.

The crime was uncovered when a truck carrying the  presumed bags of rice was intercepted along Yauri, Zamare water side in kebbi State.

In a release on Sunday made available to Nation Update by Deputy Comptroller (DC) Joseph Attah who is the National Public Relations Officer (NPRO) of Customs, a truck loaded with locally produced rice with some sacks concealed under the rice.

He stated, that upon careful examination the bags were found to contain 73 locally manufactured guns and 891 cartridges.

“Officers of  Nigeria Customs Service Federal operation unit zone B, on information patrol  along Yauri, Zamare water side intercepted a truck loaded with locally produced rice with some sacks concealed under the rice.

“Three  suspects were immediately arrested and are being detained while preliminary investigation is ongoing.”
