Kogi election: I  never expected Justice at the tribunal – Dino Melaye

Dino Melaye, the People’s Democratic Party candidate at the Senatorial election rerun of Kogi West has said he never expected justice from the tribunal, as such was not surprise by the decision of the tribunal to uphold the election of his opponent.

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja on Wednesday upheld the election of Senator Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and dismissed Melaye’s petition seeking to be declared the winner of the election.

In the unanimous rulling of the three-man panel of judges on Wednesday, they held that Melaye and the PDP failed to substantiate their claims in the petition to warrant granting Melaye his prayers.

Reacting to the judgement in a video and on his Twitter handle, Melaye said he was disappointed by the judgment, however stated he never expected Justice at the tribunal.

The former senator told his numerous supporters to remain calm, stay away from violence and be hopeful, believing justice” will be achieved.at the long run.

Melaye affirmed his commitment to appealing the tribunal judgements. He Twitted, “I never expected Justice at this level. But we shall laugh last.”
