Oyo/Osun Customs deepens security collaboration with Air Force, Immigration, traditional rulers

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intensified its drive for stronger collaboration with key security agencies and traditional institutions through a series of strategic courtesy and  familiarization visits on Tuesday 10 February, 2026 aimed at improving intelligence sharing, strengthening security operations, and fostering mutual cooperation.

As part of this initiative, the Operational Headquarters of the Command recently hosted a delegation from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Works Station, Ibadan, led by the Commander, Air Commodore D.U. Njoku. The delegation was received by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Moses Adewole, alongside principal officers of the Command.

Speaking during the visit, Air Commodore Njoku underscored the importance of sustained inter-agency synergy in addressing emerging security threats and safeguarding national interests.

He noted that effective collaboration among security agencies remains critical to combating smuggling, economic sabotage, and other transborder crimes.

In his response, Deputy Comptroller Adewole expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Air Force for the visit and reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to deepen existing partnerships.

In a release signed by Assistant Superintendent of Customs I Abdulmalik Abiodun Akintola the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the area commander emphasized that NCS remains committed to its core mandates of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and border security, adding that cooperation with sister agencies significantly enhances operational effectiveness.

In furtherance of stakeholder engagement, the Acting Customs Area Controller also paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Oyo State Command. He was received by the Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, representing the State Controller, DC V.C. Oyeaka.

Discussions at the meeting focused on strengthening intelligence sharing, coordinated border management, and adopting proactive measures to reinforce the state’s security architecture.

Additionally, Deputy Comptroller Adewole paid homage to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Senator) Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja.

The visit highlighted the Customs Service’s recognition of traditional institutions as vital partners in maintaining peace, promoting lawful trade, and supporting community-based security initiatives.

It also underscored the importance of grassroots collaboration in addressing security concerns and creating an environment conducive to economic growth.

The Oyo/Osun Customs Area Command boss reaffirmed it would continue to build and sustain productive relationships with security agencies, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective discharge of its statutory responsibilities.
