WIMA Nigeria leadership records strong start with reform-driven first 100 days

The President of Women in Maritime Africa (WIMA Nigeria), Mrs. Nwaeze Theodora, has marked her first 100 days in office, reflecting on a period shaped by purposeful leadership, strategic collaboration, and active engagement across Nigeria’s maritime sector.

Speaking on the milestone, the President expressed sincere appreciation to industry stakeholders whose partnership and support helped lay a strong foundation for her administration.

“This journey has been a testament to trust and commitment. I sincerely acknowledge and appreciate all stakeholders who have made these first 100 days worthwhile. It is a continuous work in progress.”

In a release by Lola Adesokan, Public Relations Officer(PRO), WIMA Nigeria, the president conveyed heartfelt gratitude to members and executives of the association:

“To my fellow executives and members of WIMA Nigeria, I thank you for trusting me with this mandate. Your support remains the backbone of this administration.”

Since assuming office, the leadership has been guided by four strategic pillars – Empowerment, Collaboration, Innovation, and National Visibility – which have shaped its programmes, partnerships, and engagements.

As part of efforts to institutionalize purposeful leadership, the association convened a high-level Leadership Retreat bringing together executives, ambassadors, and key stakeholders. The retreat provided a platform to clarify priorities, strengthen alignment, and define a unified direction for the administration.

“It is often said that when the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable. This retreat was critical in ensuring clarity of vision and direction for our collective efforts,” the President noted.

Within the period under review, WIMA Nigeria carried out several strategic courtesy visits to major maritime institutions and stakeholders, reinforcing partnerships and strengthening cooperation in line with its mandate to advance growth and visibility for women in the sector.

The association also maintained strong industry presence through participation in major engagements, including the International Women’s Day 2026 celebration hosted by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, further amplifying the contributions and voices of women in maritime.

Reflecting on the journey, Mrs. Theodora emphasized the sustaining role of faith, resilience, and collective commitment:

“God has been our source of wisdom and strength to carry the responsibility entrusted to us. These 100 days have only strengthened our resolve to do more.”

Reaffirming the administration’s direction, she stressed that WIMA Nigeria will continue to prioritize its core agenda of empowerment, collaboration, innovation, and national visibility to ensure women in maritime are positioned for greater opportunities, influence, and recognition.

“This 100-day milestone is not an endpoint, but a beginning. The best is yet to come.”
