School of Eloquence to attempt Guinness World Record for longest speaking relay

The School of Eloquence, Nigeria’s premier institution for public speaking and communication mastery, has received official approval from Guinness World Records to attempt the record for the longest speech marathon (team).

The record attempt, titled “20 Days of Eloquence,” is scheduled to take place from January 12 to February 1, 2026, at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos.

With the official approval from Guinness World Records Referenced :250922121700ls, the school of Eloquence has been granted approval to attempt the record.

The event will feature hundreds of Nigerians from all walks of life, including leaders, professionals, students, and citizens, each taking turns to speak for an average of 20 minutes. The initiative marks the 20th anniversary of the School of Eloquence, founded in 2006 by Ubong Essien, CSP, West Africa’s only Certified Speaking Professional.

According to Essien, “This is not just a record attempt; it’s a national quest for eloquence, unity, and expression. For 20 days, Nigeria will speak as one voice — passing on the mic from one speaker to the next.”

The event is expected to be a celebration of resilience, intellect, and nationhood through the power of spoken word. The School of Eloquence invites Nigerians from across the country and the diaspora to participate, sponsor, or support this historic milestone.

With its theme “Pass on the Mic,” the campaign aims to promote eloquence, unity, and expression, while cementing the School of Eloquence’s position as a leader in public speaking education and thought leadership in Africa.
