Nnamdi Kanu’s appeal suffers setback as court withholds production warrant to Abuja – Emma Kanu

The Abuja Federal High Court has refused to issue a warrant to transport Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to Abuja for the settlement of records for his appeal.
Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, made the allegation on Thursday, stating that the court’s decision has stalled the appeal process.
According to Prince Emmanuel, the court had issued a summons directing Kanu to appear on November 28, 2025, for the appeal records settlement, but the production warrant required for his transportation from Sokoto Prison to Abuja was not issued.
“Nnamdi Kanu is required to appear before the Appeal Section of the Federal High Court Headquarters in Abuja on November 28, 2025, to proceed with the settlement of records regarding the appeal he filed prior to the November 20 judgment,” the summons read.
Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, expressed shock at the court’s decision, stating that it poses a serious threat to Kanu’s right to a fair hearing and due process.
The IPOB leader was sentenced to life imprisonment on November 20, 2025, after his conviction on terrorism charges by an Abuja Federal High Court presided by Justice James Omotosho.
