The newly inaugurated Governing Board of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has pledged its support for the agency’s management in delivering on its mandate and driving the country’s Blue Economy goals.
Hon. Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar, Chairman of the NIMASA Board, assured the Agency of the Board’s firm commitment to supporting its mandate and achieving a thriving Blue Economy in Nigeria.
Speaking during the inaugural meeting of the board, Abubakar expressed satisfaction and confidence in the executive management, noting:
“As you may know, the management of the agency has signed a performance bond with the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, which will serve as the Key Performance Indicators to measure the agency’s achievements. As a Board, we are determined to work with the management to ensure the full realization of activities that will help shape policy direction for the Agency.”
On his part, the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of NIMASA, Dr Dayo Mobereola, while welcoming the board members, reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to its core mandate of promoting and regulating shipping, maritime safety, security, and marine environment protection in Nigeria. He emphasized that the support of the Governing Board would further strengthen NIMASA’s capacity to drive initiatives aligned with the Federal Government’s vision for a sustainable Blue Economy.
Dr Mobereola reiterated that NIMASA executive management would continue to work closely with the board and relevant stakeholders to foster an enabling environment for investment, enhance maritime infrastructure, and build human capacity in the sector.
