Maritime Group holds media workshop in Lagos

A frontline maritime media group, Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria,(AMJON) has scheduled a 2-day training  workshop from Thursday 17 and Friday 18 December, 2020 for maritime journalists.

The workshop themed, ‘Insight Into Nigeria’s Blue Economy Project’ will afford the journalist covering the maritime sector the needed opportunity to understand the burgeoning blue economy and broaden the faint knowledge of Nigerians on this lucrative economic window.

In a release signed by the President of AMJON, Paul Ogbuokiri, the two day event which will hold at the Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos would attract stakeholders from the public and private sectors of the Nigerian maritime industry.

A renowned maritime guru Dr. Chris Chigoziri Asoluka, will be the lead speaker. Other
heads of maritime agencies are expected to present related papers on this seemingly indistinct and untapped opportunity in the maritime sector.

According to the release, the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Bashir Jamoh  will declare the workshop training open as the special guest.

Ogbuokiri further stated that Jamoh will also deliver a paper tilted: Understanding the Role of NIMASA in the Nigeria’s Blue Economy Project’, whereas the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), will deliver a lecture on ‘The role of the NCS in the Nigeria’s emerging  Blue Economy Project.’

A paper on: Enhancing Ports Efficiency in the Nigeria’s Deep Blue Project. Shall be delivered by the Nigerian Ports Authority ( NPA). The Standards  Organisation of Nigeria shall dwell on, ‘The Role of SON in the Blue Project’, just as the Nigeria Shippers’ Council (NSC) would speak on ‘Expectations from Ports Economic Regulator in Nigeria’s Blue Economy Project’.

The Nigeria Blue Economy project which is yet to commence fully, expectedly will take off in 2021, as the Federal Government is putting up final preparations for the take-off.
