Following the recent pronouncement by some government officials who rose in defence of the government during the days of the occupation of the Lekki Toll Gate by the EndSars protesters, it was revealed that not less than N 7,764,545,464.5 Billion was being generated yearly at the gate.
During a media chat, a state Commissioner stated that the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge generates not less than N10 million daily, while the Admiralty Circle Plaza along the Lekki-Epe Expressway also makes not less than N16.6m daily..

Toll gate during the protest
While the protest lasted, it was stated that the state was lost N234 million in 11 days of its closure by the youths showing that all things being equal, the state makes a whooping sum of N 7,764,545,464.5 billion annually.
Some school of thought insinuated that the government action may have been necessitated by the imagined homogeneous financial loss, which it never knew when it was to end, apparently disturbed by that, it decided to explore any possible means st its disposal to end the siege at the gate, an allegation that may still not stand to be true as the government seems not to be the owner of the outfit.
Going by figures available to our reporter 80,000 cars use the tollgates every day. The figure could be higher or lower depending on the day of the week. However, since the protests started, the Lekki tollgate has been completely shut, while the one at Ikoyi remained permanently open for people to use without payment.
