The failure of the opposition parties in Lagos State to give the rulling All Progressives Congress(APC), a run for thier money at the last Saturday’s
Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas(LCDA), election has been attributed to acknowledgment of outstanding performance of the APC.
An APC stalwart Hon. Jude Omobowale Idimogu stated this while interacting with journalists after casting his vote for his party at his IIamose, Ejigbo LCDA.
Idimogu who is the Lawmaker representing Oshodi/Isolo II Constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly reacting to a question on why opposition parties were not visible through the electionary campaigns and on the election day.
He stated, he was not surprise because the party is doing well in the state since it came on board in 1999, having been following the blueprint laid by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The lawmaker reckoned that when and where there are results to show, it makes it difficult for any opposers to attract support and sympathy.
Insisting that it’s always difficult to sell your products to the people as the party in power has a proven track record that is being emulated within and outside the country.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission(LASIEC), he insisted had carried out the necessary awareness. Emphasizing that even the social media has become a veritable means of effective communication, electoral campaign and adverts in the larger society today.
“The action of the opposition shows my party is doing well in Lagos and am happy for that, its a big pat on the back of our leaders and all of us.
“The apathy is because the people think its APC state and the party is doing well, it will be very difficult to upstage performing team. LASIEC has done what its supposed to.
“All the parties bought form, they know the timetable and never carried out meaningful campaign. I don’t think ĹASIEC was responsible for the opposition parties failure to carry out an aggressive campaigned.
“APC moved around, campaigned from ward -to- ward, street -to-street and house- to-house, but opposition parties in the state never made efforts because they know it is in the interest of all to allow a successful and performing system to continue in the interest of the greater majority.
“Every bit of step taken by LASIEC has been in the social media, the unseriousness of opposition has clearly showed they cannot compete, it may not be wholly on account of resources. they have been prejudiced that LASIEC is biased already.
Hon Idimogu who was accompanied by his wife, Lady Roseline Enitan Idimogu called on Lagosian to avail themselves of the opportunity offered by the election to choose who would represent them at the council which is grassroot government indeed.
“The election has been peaceful as you can see, but there is low turnout of voters across this LCDA and we are still hoping people would come out.
