A popular Nigerian singer, Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, who is a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stalwart has said that what the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) has offered in its 23 years in Lagos is nothing compared to what the PDP has in stock for the state if given the opportunity.

Banky W who is the PDP House of Representatives candidate for Eti -Osa Federal Constituency, held that if the resources of the state were judiciously harnessed and expended, the state would have enough to cater for its citizens and would have no reason to borrow.

The renowned singer posited this while speaking with Journalists at the recent strategic meeting of the Lagos PDP candidates in the 2023 general elections convened by the party’s governorship candidate Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adeniran, popularly known as Jandor, at the Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja Lagos.

The popular musician who expressed the party’s readiness to offer Lagosians breath of fresh air, said, “Some people would say Lagos has done better than other states around the nation, for me good enough is no longer good enough because Lagos can be better. It could be better than it had been.”

Stressing that his party the PDP has refused to accept the stagnation the state and it’s residents have been cowed into, he added, “Once you get to a point where you feel good enough, you stop trying to improve, such is not acceptable.

“Though Lagos has been an APC state, but I think our chances are as good as they have ever been and I am confident we will be victorious at the end of 2023 to practise democracy in its fullest.

“That fullest of democracy dividend that will primarily protect the people, provide basic goods and services, to increase the quality of life of every citizen living in the state is what we’re bringing.”

He likened the contest for the soul of Lagos in 2023 to that of David and Goliath in the Holy Bible where David not favored to win killed the warrior Goliath with a pebble.

“Well I think like the case of David and Goliath, am comfortable being David may be people will consider the underdog, but I do like what we have going for us.

“I like the vision, the people; i like our plans and like the mission we have agreed going on, and I think when people see that, they Will listen to work with us,” Wellington said.

Jandor

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Lagos PDP Governorship Candidate, Jandor said that time had come to bring to an end the 20 years recycling of same idea by the rulling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.

Expressibg displeasure that the infrastructural decay in the state especially inner roads, he said they are not acceptable given the huge amount of revenue the state generates.

Jandor insisted that residents of the state irrespective of tribe and religion ought to have a breath of fresh air in the environment they live in, and in their economic life contrary to the poor and abysmal living standard the state presently offers.

“What we have is a government that is tired, recycling the same set of people for the past 20 years, what do we expect when we continue to do one thing the same way over and over again, definitely we will get the same result.

“We will see this time how we can make Lagos work for everybody living in Lagos. Irrespective of where you are from. Everytime we hear Lagos is a wealthy state and we can’t see that reflect on it.

“We are going to disappoint many people who think this state has been sold finally to APC. I want to believe strongly that this meeting is the commencement of total exit of the draconian APC,” Jandor affirmed.

The Lagos East Senatorial Candidate of the party Hon. Nicholas Adekunle Akobada, while speaking to newsmen at the meeting stated that about 60,000 members of the APC who were of Lagos4Lagos movement that pulled out from the party in the state was enough signal that Lagosians have lost 100 percent confidence in the party.

Lagos4Lagos is a political movement that pulled out from the rulling APC in Lagos State to join the opposition PDP. It’s ideology has been that everyone living in Lagos is equal without any discrimination, with Jandor as its lead visioner.
