The removal of Hon Uche Ogbuagu as Majority Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly, announced by the Speaker Hon. Paul Emeziem at plenary in Owerri on Thursday has been dismissed as fake.

According to the statement released by the Speaker, Ogbuagu who represnts Ikeduru state constituency will be replaced by Kanayo Njoku, member representing Owerri West, as the new Majority Leader of the All Progressive Congress(APC) dominated House.

Emeziem said, “We also want to notify the House that Uche Ogbuagu is now a former Majority Leader, while Kanayo Onyemaechi is the current Majority Leader,” the speaker said.

He stated that after a meeting of the APC cacaus of the Imo House of Assembly, the honourable  members have declared their unalloyed support for Gov. Hope Uzodimma for his capacity and sagacity in the leadership of the party and the state at large.

The House according to the Speaker has adjourned sitting until March 9.

In sharp reaction to the development Thursday morning, Ogbuagu stated that at the moment, he has refrained from making any statement to any individual or group on this issue, he therefore advised the general public to discountenance such release.

He wondered why the Speaker would ignore his .letter to him on the 3rd of March and went on to declare him impeached, stating that the act was *Comic letter of Removal*

Ogbuagu said, “I have been informed this morning, on my way to the Chambers, of my removal as Majority Leader, Imo State House Of Assembly Owerri. A position I’ve held since March 24, 2020.

“I am however surprised that the Speaker Mr. Paul Emeziem decided to discountenance  my letter to him yesterday, dated March 3, 2021 and read that his *Comic letter of Removal*

“Since then, there have been bombardment of calls and SMS to me on my phone lines by concerned Imolites, My constituents, Friends, colleagues and numerous Media Houses across the globe to confirm the incidence.”

He therefore sought for time to study the development, consult with the party leadership and promised to make statement soon.

However, unconfirmed report reaching Nation Update Friday afternoon said the Comedian turned politician has turned in his resignation letter.

With this developmrnt, it appears he has consulted with the party as he stated in his release which may have granted him a soft landing of commuting his impeachment to resignation.

A check on his facebook page where the press release on his position on his impeachment which he has pronounced false news, showed outpour of criticisms from majority of the contributors though not without few applause for him on the recent developments.

While some were of the opininon that he is undeserving of the treatment, majority were not unsympathetic to him.

Whereas the facebook name Victoria Iwuoha said,
“Uche Ogbuagu is a nice guy, he can never compromise. It’s unfortunate that government of the day needs compromisable members and Uche I know is not one. Nobody should crucify him for standing on the part of truth.”
