‘I had hoped we could achieve more together’ – Tinubu reacts over Ajimobi’s demise

Following the demise of the former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in his bewilderment has expressing how he has thought the deceased would live longer for them to achieve more laudable goals together.

Tinubu who is the National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), said, Nigeria has lost an outstanding statesman and one of its most able politicians.

He stated, “I had hoped that we could achieve more together but the ultimate wisdom and all our fates rest in the hands of Almighty Allah who knows best.

“We shared a common progressive vision for our country and how to bring prosperity, justice and hope to its people,”

In his condolence message in Lagos on Thursday, Tinubu noted that Ajimobi was reputed to be the best and most productive governor Oyo State has had.

The former governor of Lagos state said with the demise of Ajimobi, the APC has lost one of its leading lights, stating that along with other well meaning Nigerians, he has the conviction that he achieved so much.

“The numerous infrastructural and public works projects he initiated literally changed the face of Oyo State for the better.

“He broke a political jinx that many said could not be broken as the first governor to serve two consecutive terms in Oyo State,” Tinubu said.

Makinde

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has said the state government will fully participate in the burial of the former governor slated for Friday 26th, and ordered that flags in the state fly at half -mast

Ajimobi who was the newly appointed factional Ag. National Chairman of APC died of COVID-19 on Thursday afternoon at the First Cardiology Consultants Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos at the age of 70.

He will be buried on Friday in Ibadan according to Islamic rites.
