Hope rises for poultry farmers as over 20 ships discharge maize, petrol, others at Lagos ports

The discharge of 21 ships laden with petroleum products and foodstuff as maize at the Lagos ports is no doubt a milestone towards alleviating the fear of poultry farmers over the insufficient maize supply experienced in the country.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) had on Wednesday disclosed that 21 ships were discharging petroleum products and foodstuff at the Lagos ports.

In a statement a release made in its publication, “Shipping Position”, the NPA, stated that the ships are discharging among other food items as, – bulk maize, base oil, frozen fish, sugar, gasoline, automobile gasoline and wheat seed.

It stated that it awaits from Dec. 9 to 18, 13 other ships with petroleum products, bulk sugar, frozen fish, ethanol, petrol and general cargo, food items and other goods

According to the ports authority agency, other 15 ships had arrived the ports, waiting to berth with containers, bulk malt, bulk wheat and petrol.
