Faceless group distracting Barau should be prosecuted, Northern Group urges Security Agencies

Security agencies in the country have been called upon to identify and prosecute a faceless group using its organization to distract Senator Jibrin Barau, lawmaker representing Kano North at the Senate,  Senator Jibrin Barau,

The group, Northern Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN)in a press statement on Friday signed by  Comrade Isah Abubakar has urged security agencies to beam their  searchlight on persons behind the circulation of non existing and forged Independent Corruption Practices Commission (ICPC) report, to avoid  any danger refalling the Senator, his children or his investments.

NYCN stated that its attention was drawn to a petition to the ICPC against Senator Barau  on issues bothering on constituency projects and his children owning companies, and would wish to put the record straight, stressing that ordinarily it wouldn’t have bothered to join issues with them, but for the recent event in Kano State that led to the looting and  burning down of the Senator’s campaign office.

The group said that those behind the dubious act would have known  that the ICPC team that were dispatched to Kano to monitor constituency projects commended the Senator for being the most compliant in  terms of execution of constituency projects.

The statement reads in part, “This faceless group  should reveal those financing them becsuse Senator Jibrin Barau was never Indicted by the ICPC. This same faceless characters tried to use our reputable organisation to get at the Senator through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). We advise those behind the dubious act to stop hiding behind a faceless group and non existing report and  come out openly to challenge the Senator in a popularity contest. Politics is about popularity, we expect them to go to the political field and test their popularity.

“We admonish the distinguished Senator to remain focused in attracting projects to his constituency. Like we noted in our previous release, we understand that it is about 2023 and we expect to see more moves against popular potential aspirants like Barau who has done so much for his constituents both in infrastructure and empowerment. Since his likes can’t be defeated in popular contest, the sponsors of the petition  have resorted to backmail which will only blow them ill-wind,” the statement further reads.
