COVID-19: Ondo e-learning partnership ‘ll eliminate truancy

The Ondo state government has entered into  partnership with a firm, ‘Quickens Computer’ with the motive  of creating a platform for electronic-learning and to reduce ghost students/teachers syndrome.

This according to the Managing Director of Quickens Computers, Mr Lawrence Ehindero, will be achieved through  the introduction of unique identification numbers to ensure proper tracking in the state’s e-learning programme now pupils are at home as part of measures to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Femi Agagu, in a statement explained that the partnership had resulted to various educational broadcasts on both the radio and television across the state to ensure the teaching of different subjects.

Agagu restated that the e-learning was part of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s commitment to repositioning the education sector in the state for greater result.

The  partnership was to ensure school curriculum and proper academic standards maintained regardless of the school closure.

Ehindero, however stated that the e-learning would ensure teachers at various levels were ICT compliance.

Stressing that the platform would ensure the availability of comprehensive database for planning purposes, human resources and information management.He implored parents to give their children access to their mobile phones to enable them log in to their individual schools’ websites already captured in the system.

Ehindaro said, “It will help to reduce to the barest minimum, issues relating to ghost students, pupils and teachers as they will all have unique identification numbers and ensure proper tracking. The educational portal will provide parents with instant access to information relating to their children.”
