CORONAVIRUS :House Member donates food items to Ehime-Mbano, salary for national intervention

Most communities in Ehime Mbano of Imo State may have heaved a sigh of relief at last following the donation of food items to them by their representative at the National Assembly to help them cushion the effect of the global coronavirus.

As part of measures mapped out, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, the member representing Obowo, Ihitte/Uboma and Ehime-Mbano at the House of Representatives who has been putting smile on the faces of his constituents especially the aged, indigent, widows and youths least forgot them.

The target was to reach out to the unreached several households in over 17 communities in the area who were surprised with the gift of food items worth thousands of naira brought to their door steps courtesy of “Hon. Chike Okafor COVID-19 KIM – BOM Food Palliative”

According to the team leader of the disbursement committee for Ehime Mbano, Hon. Prince Kelechi Iwueze, some of the beneficiary communities include; Agbaja, Nzerem, Umukabia, Nsu, Umuakagu,Nneano, Dioka, umukabia ancient, Nsu and Ibeowerri.

Other communities in the stretch were Ama-Imo, Nneato Ikpem, Ihite Nsu, Umuoma, Obinetiti and Umuezeala Nsu were all captured in the distribution.

The beneficiaries expressed shocked that the honourable member could remember them at this time, most of them expressed that they have nobody to speak for them, and could not in anyway expect any relief.

They extended an unreserved thanks to the Honourable member, and prayed for God’s protection to him in all his endeavours.

Some beneficiaries who could not hold back their joy as Juliana Iwuji, chinyere Onuoha and Celine Iwu made fervent prayer to their representative.Few other notable benefitiaries include Calistus Agbarakwe, Franca Madumere,Bridget Onyemuche, Nnedi oku, Ibe Uchechukwu, Okendu Chuks among others .

Unrelenting in his efforts to make sure his constituents comply to the laid down safety rules of the Nigerian Council for Disease Control(NCDC),  and other health experts, Hon.Okafor had earlier organized a door to door COVID-19 awareness.

In the course of the campaign, thousands of hand sanitizers were distributed to Ehime Mbano communities and some other communities in the other two local government areas of Obowo and Ihitte/Uboma that make up the federal constituency.
At the National level, Hon. Okafor who is a frontline member of the rulling  All People’s Congress (APC), has committed his two months salary as part of their National intervention support to the fight of COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

As the backlash from other communities and homes yet to benefit from the food largess of Deacon Okafor increases and as many more needy yawn, Hon Okafor has promised to up the ante to reach more households.
