Nigeria Customs Service: Tinubu extends Adeniyi’s tenure to consolidate reforms

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended the tenure of Comptroller-General(CG) of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS), Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, by one year, to enable consolidate ongoing reforms and complete critical initiatives.
In a state house press statement made available by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy on Thursday 31 July, 2025 in Abuja, reveals that President Tinubu recognizes Adeniyi’s steadfast leadership and commitment to service.
The release highlighted the key ongoing initiative of the present administration expected of him to consolidate on to include: Modernization of Nigeria Customs Service: Enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the service; National Single Window Project: Streamlining trade processes and reducing bureaucracy and African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Protocol: Executing Nigeria’s obligations under the protocol to boost intra-African trade.
The presidency said it recognizes Adeniyi’s steadfast leadership and commitment to service, expressing confidence that the extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service in achieving its strategic mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
However, Adeniyi’s tenure is to officially expire on August 31, 2025.
