APFFLON’s visit: AIG Maritime harps on synergy with sister agencies, stakeholders, receives award of excellence

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Maritime Police Command, AIG Musa Yusuf Garba, psc has reiterated the command’s readiness to collaborate with sister agencies and maritime associations to ensure safety, security, and economic growth within the maritime domain.

AIG Garba made the revelation when he received the executive of the Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) who visited him on Thursday at the Maritime Police Command Headquarters Lagos.

In a release signed by ASP Adebayo Rasheed Public Relations Officer of the command made available to Nation Update, the AIG assured APFFLON of the Command’s unwavering support and commitment to unweaving professionalism in the discharge of their duty.

He underscored the importance of effective prosecution of offenders within the maritime sector as a deterrent to others seeking to undermine Nigeria’s economic and by extension it’s security.

Earlier in his speech, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, national president of APFFLON stated that the visit aimed at strengthening the long-standing relationship between the association and the Maritime Police Command, while also familiarizing themselves with the current leadership and get acquainted with the current direction of the police Command.

Ogunojemite however acknowledged the key role the Maritime Police Command played during APFFLON’s early days, therefore stressed the need for continued partnership.

He went further to call on special attention, training and equipping of officers and men that secure the sector.

APFFLON boss said, “maritime sector is highly specialized and requires officers who are equipped with requisite knowledge and abilities to effectively maintain law and order within the Command’s Areas of Responsibility.”

The Professional Freight Forwarders used the occasion to present it’s maiden award of excellence to AIG Garba.
