Eid-el-Kabir: CGC Adeniyi preaches unity, patience as customs sustains economic reforms

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has called on Nigerians to embrace the values of sacrifice, unity, patriotism and peaceful coexistence as Muslims across the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

Adeniyi made the appeal on Wednesday shortly after observing Eid prayers at the Modakeke Eid Ground in Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he urged citizens to reflect on the spiritual lessons of the Islamic festival and recommit themselves to national development.

According to the Customs boss, Eid-el-Kabir remains a solemn reminder of obedience to Almighty Allah, total submission to divine instruction, and the virtues demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim through sacrifice and unwavering faith.

“We all know what Eid symbolises. It symbolises obedience to Almighty Allah and sacrifice. These are values every Muslim is expected to imbibe in daily life,” he said.

The CGC thanked God for preserving the lives of Nigerians to witness another Eid celebration and stressed the need for citizens to continue promoting peace, tolerance and national unity regardless of ethnic or religious differences.

“Nigeria is a beautiful country, and we all must unite ourselves,” he stated.

Adeniyi also urged Nigerians to remain law-abiding and patient, noting that discipline, respect for the rule of law and patriotism are essential ingredients for national stability and economic growth.

Speaking on the activities of the Nigeria Customs Service, the CGC expressed satisfaction with the Service’s performance in revenue generation, trade facilitation and anti-smuggling operations.

He noted that ongoing reforms within the NCS are strengthening operational efficiency while supporting the Federal Government’s economic diversification agenda through increased export activities.

“The NCS is on the right trajectory in revenue generation, trade facilitation, security and economic prosperity. Export activities are increasing steadily in line with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Adeniyi added.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Service to supporting national economic growth, border security and legitimate trade through sustained reforms and stakeholder collaboration.
