2027: Mopamuro APC women accuse Tinubu support group of backing ADC

By Admin

The Mopamuro Progressive Women (MPW), a support group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State, has accused the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) in the area of allegedly mobilising support for the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group alleged that TSG was using President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s name to conceal its purported political alignment with the ADC and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, MPW Coordinator, Mrs. Funmilola Zaccheaus, also alleged that the activities were backed by Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, urging the APC leadership to investigate the claims and caution the lawmaker if necessary.

MPW expressed concern that a group publicly associated with support for President Tinubu could allegedly be involved in mobilising support for an opposition party, describing the development as a potential threat to the APC’s grassroots mobilisation efforts in Mopamuro and other parts of Kogi State.

“Our attention has been drawn to the nefarious activities of an organisation known as the Tinubu Support Group in Mopamuro, which is allegedly using the name of the President to conceal its intention of mobilising support for the ADC.

“We find it appalling that those who intend to support the ADC would hide under the President’s name. We’re also concerned by claims that the group is being sponsored by Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, who many believe to be a supporter of the President,” the statement said.

The women’s group maintained that the allegations required urgent attention from the party’s leadership, particularly as political activities and grassroots mobilisation gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.

It further alleged that some individuals associated with TSG were opposed to the APC’s electoral prospects in Mopamuro, warning party supporters against what it described as attempts to mislead members and undermine the party’s mobilisation efforts.

MPW said the reported mobilisation for an Atiku Abubakar presidency, if established, would raise questions about the group’s political commitments and its public identification with President Tinubu’s support base.

The group therefore called on the APC’s national leadership to examine the allegations and take appropriate steps to protect party unity and discipline.

“We call on the national leadership of our party to call Hon. James Faleke to order to prevent any disruption of the grassroots mobilisation efforts being undertaken by party leaders in Kogi State to secure a landslide victory for Mr President,” the statement added.

Reaffirming its support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition, MPW pledged to intensify grassroots political engagement and mobilisation across Mopamuro Local Government Area.

The group said it would continue to engage women, families and other grassroots constituencies to promote the President’s policies and achievements as part of efforts to secure his re-election in 2027.

“We want to assure Mr President that Mopamuro Progressive Women stands firmly behind his leadership and will work tirelessly to mobilise women, families and grassroots supporters across Mopamuro for his second-term victory.

“We are committed to taking his message and achievements to every community and ensuring that the people understand the importance of sustaining his administration beyond 2027,” the group stated.

The allegations against TSG and Faleke have not been independently verified in the statement provided. Responses from the Tinubu Support Group and Faleke were also not included.
