Gara Gombe suspends GWG sponsored sporting events, exempts one until corruption addressed

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Green White Green Sports Center Limited (GWG), Hon. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, has suspended all sporting activities under his sponsorship in Gombe State, citing widespread corruption as reason.
The suspension affects various sports except for Gombe Sporting Football Club, which has been exempted. Gara Gombe stated the decision will stand until stolen funds and property belonging to Gombe State are recovered, underscoring his commitment to accountability and transparency.
In a press statement, Gombe revealed that his decision to halt sports activities was to draw attention to rampant corruption in sports and related areas.
He said, “My decision will remain in effect until all stolen funds and property belonging to Gombe State are recovered.” However, Gombe Sporting Football Club has been exempted from the suspension.
Despite his removal as Chairman of the State Athletics Association, Hon. Gara Gombe remains committed to advocating for accountability and transparency in Gombe State sports and entire state.
