Us govt advocates support for farmers

The United States of America has called for encouragement to farmers and agribusiness investors, by the federal government of Nigeria to improve food security.and grow Gross Domestic Product (GDP).as its obtainable  in the US.

The  US Consul General, Claire Pierangelo, made the charge during an inspection tour of the TUNS Farms Nigeria Limited in Osogbo Osun State.

TUNS Farms owned by the Osogbo-born agribusiness entrepreneur, Asiwaju Tunde Badmus is
a major supplier of chicken to major eateries as Shoprite, KFC and lots of others.

The Consul General, who was accompanied by other top officials of the US mission in Nigeria, expressed delight on the facilities at the farm as well as the products’ quality she said compared favourably with farms globally.

She maintained that the nation’s economy would experience rapid growth when the private investors are given a boost, when they are provided with serene environment that helps business to grow.

“We came here to inspect this farm to see the level of compliance with the international standard. We are happy with the facility here and we are satisfied with the products.

“We urged the Nigerian government to give more support to the farmers in this country as the US government is doing. This is the only way to ensure food security and boost the nation’s economy.

In his remarks, Asiwaju Tunde Badmus commended the US for organising regular trainings for farmers, to acquaint them with modern agricultural practices.

The Chairman appealed to government and foreign agencies to assist the country’s farmers who are in agribusiness through technology and training.

“We are grateful to the US government for the trainings for our farmers here. The training has helped us to improve in agribusiness”, he said.
