Ramadan: MWUN PG seeks divine intervention for peace, security, national solidarity in Nigeria

The President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has extended warm greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world as they commence the holy month of Ramadan.

The president however reiterated the need to take the period as a season for deep reflection, unity and renewed commitment to national development.

In a release e-signed by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, head of Media MWUN made available to Nationupdate, Bunu described Ramadan as a sacred season devoted to spiritual cleansing, repentance and sincere supplication to Almighty Allah.

He noted that the fasting period offers an opportunity for individuals and communities to atone for past shortcomings and seek divine guidance for a better society.

The MWUN President-General called on Nigerians to use the holy month to strengthen family bonds, foster harmonious relationships within communities and promote understanding across all levels of governance.

He emphasized the importance of remembering those affected by war, insecurity and hardship both in Nigeria and globally, expressing faith that God remains sovereign and capable of restoring hope and stability.

Bunu lamented the persistence of insecurity, criminality and other challenges confronting many communities, stressing the urgent need for collective prayers and moral renewal. He urged citizens to turn to God for solutions, maintaining that no challenge is insurmountable with divine intervention and sincere national commitment.

He further encouraged maritime workers and Nigerians at large to reflect on the strategic importance of the marine and blue economy in driving economic growth and national prosperity. According to him, sustained peace and cooperation are essential to unlocking the full potential of the sector for the benefit of the country.

While wishing Muslims a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Ramadan, Bunu called for solidarity of purpose among Nigerians, regardless of tribe, religion or social status. He reiterated that mutual respect, unity and faith in God remain critical to building a stable, prosperous and harmonious nation.
