PSC, IG to promote, officer who pays N240,000 sick girl hospital’s bill

Human Rights, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders’ Foundation (HURIDE), has called on the Police Service Commission (PSC), and the Inspector-General (IG), to immediately, elevate , a policewoman, who paid N240,000 hospital bill of a sick girl in Anambra State.

The policewoman who is the image maker of Zone 13 Police Command in Anambra State, Nkiru Nwode, for coming to the rescue of a young girl down with protracted illness.

Nwode, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (CSP), paid-off the bills for the treatment of the 10-year old Miss Obianuju Njoku,to the tune of N240,000.

In its statement, the group Chairman, Dede Uzor A Uzor, said the officer’s concern for women and children in the country, is second to non, adding that she should be elevated immediately.

Dede Uzor noted that this was not the first time the Police image maker was involved in humanitarian activities, noting that she had once gone to Port Harcourt, Rivers State to rescue a day old girl sold out to traffickers.

“She has been selected for prestigious Human Right Defenders Award. She had equally gone to Abuja to rescue a child stolen through child trafficking on financial instance.

“We commend her. She is a humane officer. She is one among her equals. She deserved to be elevated to another rank,” he stressed.

The sick girl, parents and sibling

He further noted that the sick girl
whose parents lives in Amichi, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State but came from Ebonyi State was brought down to Onitsha by him.

“She was taken to St. Cyprain Hospital Port Harcourt Road, Fegge, Onitsha in Anambra State where the Medical Director, Dr. Emeka Agbanu, diagnosed her of severe protein malnutrition, abdominal infectious and urinary tract infection. She is presently recuperating at the hospital, ” he added.
