Policeman shooting of girlfriend: Pastor, IPO want to bribe family with N100,000

The trending report of the alleged shooting of the girlfriend at her mouth by the boyfriend, a police officer may have taken a twist as a sister to the victim has accused a Pastor and the Investigative Police Officer(IPO) to the matter of conniving to bribe her with N100,000.

Helen Uche Ndubuisi, sister to Joy Ndubuisi, the victim who stated how Joy was shot by her boyfriend, Sergeant Eze Aiwansoba over a misunderstanding that broke out on changing of television channels.

Helen narrated to Nation Update

how the incident occurred on 5th October, how the suspect attached to Special Protection Unit (SPU), Base 16, Ikeja, Lagos has been trailed and arrested by police authority after he had flee.

Narrating her story, Helen said, over a little misunderstanding on how to change the channel on

television, what to watch; and what not to watch lead to Eze calling off the relationship.

“The police man said he is no more interested, that was on the 5th of October.

“But on October 8th, he invited her, said that he has been looking for her and also that he wants to see her. They went to a bar and had a drink together, after the drink

she told him she’s about leaving and he followed her.

“This was around 7:00pm, the said bar was close -by to a canal. Joy was walking in front and the boyfriend at the back. Suddenly, she heard him cocked his gun, as she looked back the man shot her and ran away, there was some men who tried to get hold of him but could not, they rather decided to come back to Joy and save her than running after him.

“Eze was pursued by passersby who witnessed the shooting and he scaled a fence into an Estate and jumped on a waiting motorbike and

escaped.

“The witnesses took the seriously injured and bleeding Joy to

the General Hospital, Ikeja, where she is currently receiving treatment,” she said.

Helen added that the incident was reported at the Area ‘F’, Police Station, Ikeja.

She noted that the IPO one Inspector Patience visited the victim’s residence only on the first day untill on 20 days later- on October 20 when she received information from someone said to be the ‘boss to Sergeant Eze’, that Eze has been arrested and is currently

detained at Area ‘F’, Ikeja.

Helen however stated how a man who claimed to be ‘Pastor to Sergeant Eze’ was repeatedly calling her on her sister’s phone number since October 10, asking her to meet him somewhere and collect the sum of N100,000

but she asked the ‘Pastor’ to pay the money into an account

she would provide but they insisted on her coming to meet him to collect cash.

Helen further explained that the IPO also called her later and asked her to come and collect the N100,000 from the said ‘Pastor’, and she still insisted that the money be paid into her account, which is yet to be done till the time of filing her story.

Executive Director, Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) , Comrade Okechukwu Nwanguma, has therefore urged Commissioner of Police , CP Hakeem Odumosu , to order an impartial and honest investigation into the shooting of Joy by the officer, with a view to ensuring justice.

He lamented that an attempt by Sergeant Eze to change the story and justify his unlawful action by

claiming that Joy was dragging his gun with him when the bullet accidentally went off would not be accepted.

“The victim’s relations said they have eye witnesses who are willing to testify that Sergeant Eze aimed at Joy, shot her and ran away as he scaled a fence when he was being chased by crowd around, he jumped on a waiting motorbike and escaped.

“An insider called me yesterday that she wants to let me know the plan the guy and his family are hatching for him to say that my sister was dragging the gun with him, and he mistakenly shot her,” stated Helen.
