Oyo/Osun Customs, International Breweries explore stronger partnership on revenue growth, compliance

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Oyo/Osun Area Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with excise factories and key industry stakeholders, following a courtesy visit to International Breweries Plc in Ilesa, Osun State.

The visit, led by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DCC) Wale Moses Adewole, took place on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance compliance, improve revenue generation, and promote seamless trade operations.

Speaking during the engagement, Adewole underscored the critical role of strict adherence to extant excise laws and regulations, stressing that compliance remains pivotal to boosting government revenue and sustaining national economic stability. He reiterated the Command’s dual mandate of facilitating legitimate trade while ensuring firm enforcement of fiscal policies.

The Area Controller commended International Breweries Plc for its significant contributions to the economy, particularly in job creation and its role in strengthening the Command’s revenue profile. He encouraged the company’s management to sustain its compliance standards and uphold transparency in all operational processes.

In his response, the Plant Manager of International Breweries Plc, Mr. Emmanuel Onabanjo, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as both timely and impactful. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining a strong and cordial relationship with the Nigeria Customs Service, pledging continued adherence to all regulatory requirements.

The meeting also provided a platform for both parties to engage in constructive dialogue, address operational concerns, and identify opportunities for deeper collaboration.

The Oyo/Osun Area Command emphasized that it will continue to prioritize stakeholder engagement, trade facilitation, and strict enforcement of fiscal policies in line with the statutory mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service.
