NYSC set of 1998 reunites 25 years after

Not fewer than 100 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that served in Bauchi State, Northern Nigeria, in 1998 are set to reunite 25 years after serving their fatherland.

Afred Okoligwe, Ace Sports Journalist, and member of the group, disclosed this to newsmen on Monday in Lagos.

Okoligwe said that some things are just weird and unbelievable.

According to him, in 1998, a group of young graduates were posted to Bauchi State to serve the nation for a year.

He said that 25 years after this group of individuals were still in touch and more importantly are planning to celebrate 25years of meeting, connecting and forming lasting relationships.

“Ask me how this is even possible, I do not know but it is happening live this August in Lagos Nigeria.

” A Wailo 98 anniversary and reunion celebration.

” In addition, we are embarking on some give back projects which include donations to the orphanage as well as some contributions to the wailo camp itself.

“As NYSC is 50 years this year, Wailo 98 is 25 years, ” Okoligwe said.

The ace sports journalist said that one of the major aims of NYSC is to unite individuals from the different regions of Nigeria and I can say without doubt that this Wailo 98 group is a testimony of that.

He said that the reunion would be like the gathering of Eagles as members of #wailo 98 would be coming from the four corners of the world to grace this all important reunion.
