Maritime workers praise Oyetola for IMO seat triumph

The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has congratulated Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Nigeria’s successful election into the International Maritime Organization (IMO) category ‘C’ council seat.

The President-General of Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN),Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, who gave the commendation describing this feat as a landmark achievement for Nigeria and its maritime sector which the country has been on the contest for 14 years now.

In a statement signed by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN, the President Comrade Bunu, said the Minister has made Nigeria proud by securing a seat on the IMO Council, elevating the country’s status among global maritime nations.

The MWUN boss praised the former governor Oyetola’s remarkable achievement, attributing the success to his hard work, commitment, and foresight. He highlighted the Minister’s efforts in establishing a robust inter-ministerial campaign committee, which drove the victory and surpassed previous attempts in 2011 and 2019.

The MWUN leader also commended Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, NPA Managing Director, for his dedication and passion in the maritime sector, saying his efforts perfectly complemented Minister Oyetola’s achievement at the IMO. He noted that if all maritime regulatory agencies work together in such harmony, the possibilities for the industry would be endless.

Comrade Bunu, a veteran sailor and astute maritime administrator, praised Hon. Oyetola for his exceptional leadership and in-depth knowledge of the marine and blue economy ministry, exceeding expectations.
