Mandatory use of face mask begins in Lagos

The Lagos state government has resolved to enforce the use of face mask in public places with effect from next week as part of measure to contain the spread of the coronavirus which the state has become the epicentre in the country today.

Speaking at the State House, Marina, Lagos on Monday during the 7th briefing on COVID-19, the state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the state was taking new measures to curb the spread of the pandemic in the state.

Sonwo-olu said one million locally made face masks have been contracted, and will be distributed to lagosians during the week.

As the four weeks lockdown comes to an end next week, many lagosians are looking up to the week with many expectation which include whether the government wil relax the lockdown.

In view of the fact that Ghana has just lifted the movement restrictions placed on its citizens. Even as the country has a total of 1,043 cases which have been confirmed as of Sunday, April 19.

The majority of cases are in Accra (882) and Kumasi (62). Of the number, 99 persons have recovered and have been discharged while nine have died. The country has however resumed movement activities while also enforcing facemask laws.

But well meaning Nigerian have reasoned that the lockdown be extended especially now the country and by extension most states have procured reasonable testing kits. They advised government, Cooperate organizations and wealthy citizens to lend help to others who are finding it difficult to eat this time to make the sit at home order effective.
