Lawmaker receives award of excellent performance in home town

It was a rousing ovation as Lawmaker representing Oshodi/Isolo constituency 11 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Jude Chukwuemeka Idimogu received the award of excellent performance in his home town ‘Abueke’ Autonomous Community, in ‘Ihitte-Uboma’ Local Government Area of Imo State.

His Royal Highness, Eze Wilford Mbagwu had conferred on the lawmaker the title of ‘Ohamadike of Abueke’ for his outstanding performance in politics, lawmaking and enormous contribution to humanity both home and away.

Eze Mbagwu was coroneted as the Abu II of Abueke Autonomous Community in Ihitte-Uboma Local Government Area an occasion he used to recognise men and women and in Diaspora who had played prominent role in the development of the community both in human and material

Abueke is one of the twenty-two (22) autonomous communities that make up the present Ihitte-Uboma local government of Imo State. It’s bounded on the east partly by sister community, Eluama and Umuahia (Abia State) respectively.

On the west, it is bounded by Umuawuchi community, on the North by Umunomo community while on the South it is bounded by Ikpenwafor community

As a lawmaker in the Lagos state, Idimogu had moved the motions of the Ladipo market, relocation of mile 12 market to a safer place and the construction of pedestrian bridge at Ladipo/five-star location which is expected to commence before long.

He is also the house committee chairman on Wealth Ceation and Employment. He is member of other committees including public accounts (state), energy and mineral resources, commerce, industry and cooperative. Also, a committee member on finance, and a two-time member of Lagos State House  of assembly.

Eze Mbagwu said that he was not surprised that Idimogu would achieve such feat coming from his spirit of giving back to the people and his humble nature. According to him, having won elections for two consecutive times in Lagos outside his tribe means he has continued to give back to the constituency he represents.

“we deemed it feat to recognise him as the ‘Ohamadike of Abueke’.

“For him to have gone to another state and won an election even two consecutive times is a big achievement and we deem it fit/obligatory to recognise him, honour and award him. If he had been in Imo State, at least he would recognise our community and bring so many things to us. We expect that he will come and use his positions to attract more facilities for the community”

‘Ohamadike’, Mbagwu explained is the recognition/title given to someone who is generally accepted by his people/community for doing great things and bringing honour to them.

While describing this accomplishments as a stepping stone, the royal highness believes that the lawmaker will eventually come back home and contest for more positions.

While receiving the award, the lawmaker pledged to do everything conceivable in promoting peace, oneness and development in the community both human and material.

He said: “Even in faraway Lagos where I work as a lawmaker, I am considered worthy to be recognised as an ambassador by giving me this title, I therefore promise to do my best not to let you people down, we will work together to build the kind of community we all desire”.

“I am humbled to be the first in the community to be bestowed with such prestigious award by the traditional ruler, it’s not easy to come by,” he stated.

While praying for God’s guidance, wisdom and understanding upon the new Eze, the lawmaker however urged him and his cabinet to follow the course of leadership that will benefit the entire people of the community. Mr Ezurike Ugochukwu received the award on behalf of the lawmaker.

President General of Abueke Development Union, Hon Felix Ifeanyichukwu Okezie, informed that the community was an ancient community which had been in existence long before the idea of creation of Imo State was conceived.

According to him, it was also one of the few ancient communities that constituted Imo state when it was carved out for the defunct East Central State of Nigeria by the military government in 1976.
