Lagos H/Assembly to be represented at burial of member in Imo

The Lagos State House of Assembly member, representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II, Hon. Jude Chukwuemeka Idimogu has been scheduled to attend the burial of the State House of Assembly member and former Ex-Executive Chairman in Imo State, Hon. Hillary Udumukwu.

The Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma has confirmed his attendance for the burial which is slated to take place on the 23rd of this month.

Special Adviser(SA) to the Governor on Power and Energy in Imo State, Hon. Sam Nwaire, who brought the notice to Hon. Idimogu at his residence in Lagos said that the invitation would also serve as a home coming for him.

According to him, Idimogu who is a member of the Lagos state House of Assembly would use the opportunity to meet with his community and political bigwigs in Imo state, adding the burial would attract dignitaries from within and across the federation. He added that late Udumukwu was a professional pharmacist who had done so well both in the pharmaceutical and political space in the state.

“We have come to ask Hon. and Madam to use this as a home coming, to be at the burial, it will be a memorable outing for you,” Nwaire stated, adding, “his Excellency the governor, deputy and other political associates would honour the burial.

“Idimogu is not only from Imo state, he is from my local government, and the LGA has produced some illustrious sons and high ranking politicians in the country”, Nwaire noted.

Expressing the delight, Idimogu thanked the Special Adviser on Power and Energy in Imo state, describing the invitation as a reunion that would pay-off.

“As God would have it, we have a common synergy from the root, from our own home. I stayed at home for a while, and I schooled in a primary school at home,” Idimogu recounted.

“I’m very happy for the visit of my brother. Besides, we had worked together in the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), without knowung it. We have alot of things in common. He works in our great team; in party affiliation, we are the same; we are of same parents politically,” Idimogu noted.

“The good relationship between our state and Lagos has continued to pay off, going by the overwhelmed support I have been getting from our political leader, Asiwaju Bola  Ahmed Tinubu(Jagaban), Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, my Speaker Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa.

“My party, my constituents and Lagosians have remained undaunting in their believe in me. My Igbo brothers and sisters in Lagos have avowedly been of great support.

“We can freely work together, cross-fertilize in ideas that will move Imo and Lagos forward; and to also help our people resolve some issues in our Okigwe political zone in Imo,” Idimogu expressed, “it’s very key,” he added.

The late Hilary Udumukwu was among the few Sam Mbakweists, that remained undismayed in his vision for the state years after he had gone,. having come to political prominence in 1983 when he won election to the Imo State House of Assembly under the Nigerian People’s Party (NPP).

According to a family source, he remained resolute as a patriotic Nigerian, Igbo race, Imo State and Ihitte/Uboma in particular, championed peace and love.

It will be recalled that In 2019, he sacrificed his People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial ambition to pave way for an Okigwe -North  aspirant who eventually emerged as candidate of his party, in the spirit of fairness and equity.
