Lady Idimogu canvases equal chances for woman at International day celebration

Society has been called upon to give opportunity to women as partners in the search for global peace, harmony and equity.

Lady Roseline Idimogu, the wife of the Honourable Member representing Oshodi/Isolo II Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly stated this in her message, in this year 2021 International Women’s Celebration.

Speaking on the backdrop of the theme of this year’s celebration: #ChoosetoChallenge, Idimogu called on the society to think critically on how best they can promote gender equality, celebrate women and challenge them to action.

Women she said have not failed in all the areas and aspects they have been oportuned to serve both locally and internationally.

Lady Idimogu who is also a lady of the Knight of St Molumba in the Roman Catholic Church urged the society not to pigeonhole the womenfolk to only domestic affairs but be allowed to showcase their God given endowments for the betterment of the society.

She called on the government to make interventions that would ensure that women are not discriminated against, urged the men not to feel intimidated or dwarfed by the progress of any woman as all are partners in progress working towards a better society.

“In the way women for generations have stood behind and beside their men and have led them to success after success and victory after victory, what is fair is fair, what is right is right, if women truly want to fly, I urge our men to encourage them to fly,” Idimogu said.

The Osodieme(the husband’s partner in progress) as she is fondly called urged those in authority to strive and support the efforts of the women and not allow the rights of women to be relegated to the background in any way.

She called on government to make a Law that would protect not only girl-child but also women.

“The empowerment of women has also been proven to lead to economic and all round growth of nations, as shown by the fact that countries with gender equality are making better progress. She said.

Ngozi okonjo-Iweala

The wife of the lawmaker congratulated Dr Ngozi okonjo-Iweala on her new office as the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), emphasising that women worldover are proud of her outstanding accomplishments especially as a global role model for the girl child.

Osodieme, further called on mothers to show high level of vigilance as most children today from God-fearing homes have drifted to dark parts, joining bad gangs through the bad company they keep in schools.

“Mothers should make good use of thier closeness to thier children to show them the way of the Lord, teaching them to pray fervently as that is a sure way to a peaceful society,” She said.
