Inter – agency collaboration: NSCDC assures of collaboration with NDLEA to sustain fight against drug abuse

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Douglas Okoro has assured that the corps will sustain the inter-agency relationship with National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in the fight against selling, exporting, and trafficking of hard drugs.

Eweka Okoro gave the assurance when he received in audience the State Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Lagos State Command, Barr. Callys Alumona, in his office, at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

Alumona who commended the laudable achievements of the Command in recent times and the cordial inter-agency collaboration between the two sister security agencies in Lagos State saying that accounted to his choice of the corps as his first point of call.

He called for synergy and cooperation among various agencies of governmemt and Nigerians in general to eliminate the growing, processing, manufacturing, selling, exporting, and trafficking of hard drugs.

NSCDC he said as a reputable law enforcement agency, is urged to sustain that impression and rating in the best interest of the nation.

In a release made available to Nation Update, ASCI Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide, spokesperson of Lagos State NSCDC Command, Eweka – Okoro stated that express instruction for inter-agency collaboration between the NSCDC and other sister agencies by the Commandant General (CG), of NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi remains sacrosanct and in the interest of the nation.

Assured of the support and collaboration of the Lagos State Command in achieving such laudable object of inter-agency collaboration in the best interest of the nation and in solidarity to NDLEA.

Eweka Okoro restated the cordial working relationship between NSCDC and NDLEA which he said has been historical and remarkable.

He reminisced on the past gains achieved by the two agencies in their collaborative efforts.

The NSDC boss assured that the Command will always handover to the NDLEA, any suspected drug law offenders apprehended by the Command’s operatives during their routine operations or otherwise.

He reiterated that to eradicate proliferation of drugs abuse and other related offences in the state, there is need for collaboration and strategic planning.

“Achieving these goals include but not limited to robust intelligence gathering, routine operations with arrest of offenders, in relations with such offences and violations against drug laws, as stipulated by the NDLEA Act,” the Commandant stated.
