Fed govt vows to deal with perpetrators of rape

Those caught in the act of rape may no longer have their way as President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to deal with them according to the provisions of the law. He expressed the shock over the increasing rate of female molestation across the federation.

The President reaction came on the heels of the current cases of rape of young girls by adult males, which have dominated the media space in the country.He made the condemnation during his nation-wide broadcast to celebrate the maiden June 12 Democracy Day anniversary, saying that sexual molestation of minors in the country would be dealt in accordance with the law.

The President also assured that the police were on the trails of perpetrators of the heinous act to bring them to justice.

“I am particularly upset with the recent upsurge of rapes of very young girls. The police are pursuing the perpetrators of these heinous crime to ensure justice.”, the President expresed.

Notably, Lagos state has a zero-tolerance for sexual violence against women and punishes offenders in accordance with the law.

It is in the light of this dastardly act that the state Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with other men staged an advocacy on sexual violence against women in state.

Also joined in the campaign on sexual violence against women with recommendations for stiffer punishment is the Nigerian Women Journalists, (NAWOJ), Lagos State Chapter.
