BREAKING: Primary pupils, teachers abducted by gunmen in kaduna Monday morning

A yet to be ascertained number of pupils and teachers have been abducted Monday morning at the UBE Primary School, Rama in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

The suspected gunmen who stormed the school on motorcycles attacked around 9:00 am.

The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a release made available to Nation Update said the abduction of primary school pupils and teachers were made this Monday morning.

The incident is coming few days after bandits abducted 39 students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Afaka in the Igabi Local Government Area of same Kaduna State.

Since the successful kidnap of hundreds of schoolgirls in 2014 at Chibok by Boko Haram, even as some are still held captive, it has become a case of one too many.

This attack is also coming barely 24 hours after Aruwan, announced the unsuccessful kidnap attempt on Government Science Secondary School on Sunday, where he said 307 students of the school are safe.

February 17, 2021, gunmen struck at the Government Secondary School in Kagara, Niger State, abducting about 42 school pupils, teachers, and workers.

Last December 11, 2020, 344 secondary schoolboys were abducted from Kankara in Katsina, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, while he was there.

In February 2018, 110 schoolgirls were also abducted by Boko Haram from the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State. Five died in the process while others were later released, except Leah Sharibu, a Christian girl who refused to renounce her faith.

These are coming on the heels of assurances by the presidency that kidnap attempts at schools in the north must stop.
