Breaking: Maina, fleeing ex-pension boss,arrested at Niger Rep. brought to Nigeria

The fleeing former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, has been arrested and extradited from Niger Republic into Nigeria on Thursday to face alleged criminal trial against him.

The Nigerian Police Force said Maina was brought into Nigeria from Niamey, Niger Republic, having been declared wanted by a court of competent jurisdiction.

According to Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer in a release, said the team from INTERPOL Nigeria, led by the Commissioner of Police INTERPOL, Garba Umar, having completed the necessary documentation requirements and other extradition processes, flew the wanted former Pension Boss into Nigeria aboard an NPF Jet 5N-HAR and landed at exactly 2:17pm Nigerian time.

The arrest of Maina was said to have been perfected on November 30, 2020 through the collaborative efforts of operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, INTERPOL NCB, Abuja and their Niger Republic police.

Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector General of Police while commending the trans-national/inter-agency collaborations that led to the successful arrest and extradition of the wanted fugitive, he assured that necessary legal actions will follow to bring the matter to logical conclusion.
