Again, three killed as rival cults clash in Seme

Residents of Seme border community of Badagry Lagos state now live in fear and apprehension as three persons were again killed on Thursday in a unending rival cults groups clash.

Recall that four persons were reportedly killed on Monday as two rival cult groups suspected to be the Black Axe Confraternity also known as Aye and the Air Lords also known as Eiye clashed in the area.

While that is yet to die down, another three are feared dead as community dwellers are greatly in fear that the zone may be turned to killing field as its being experienced presently in the Northeastern part of the country.

Baale of the Pengbon Community, Chief Ayeleso Ganjo told our Nation Update that there is palpable fear in the land and that the development may affect international trade especially now that the border has been reopened for business.

He said: “Seme is hot now, and they have opened the border for business, how would business thrive under this condition. Government should come and help us. We are part of Lagos and Nigeria. The killings here are taking tool on our livelihood, as well as sending dangerous and alarming signals.

“Fear has engulfed this area, people are afraid of moving around to their businesses. The Police here is not helping matters. I doubt if any arrest has been made. They should come out and let us know what is happening for us to know how to help out.

“Nobody, no security agency is at our rescue here in seme border, its only God that is helping us. Imagine this happening now the border has just been opened.

According to the Baale, the increasing incidents is due to lack of effective security in the area.

He alleged that he had sent several correspondences to the security outfits within the zone and the state without any action taken.

“I had made several correspondences to security agencies, telling them of the nefarious acts going on in this community, which i have acknowledged copies till now,no action has been.

“We are talking of security of lives and property. My community thought that with the reopening of borders, people will start coming in here, and economic life will resume, imagine the signal this will send out now.

“We are living in fear here as no one knows what will happen tomorrow. I have the evidences of all the goings on here.

“Killing has become a daily occurrence. Very soon this place will turn to Northeast.

“Imagine four people were killed on Monday, yesterday again (Thursday), three were killed, and no one knows how many that will be killed tomorrow.

“Like in the case of Agossu Daniel that was killed on Monday, he is the only child of the family, what becomes of the parents now?

“It was not like this before, those days when security operatives were proactive.

“To understand how calm this place was, during the EndSARs protest/ destructions, no demonstration took place here, people were going about their normal businesses, it fear of the unknown that scared some people aware.

“One of the three boys killed is named Tosin. The police here is not helping matters.
They trivialize all these killings. Investigation are not being carried out they would rather encourage deceased families to take thier dead ones and bury, no arrests, no investigation.

“One of the boys among the three killed on Thursday was matcheted in front of his father’s shop. Whether the deceased was a member of the cults, I do not know for now,” Ganjo said.

Response from the spokesperson of the Lagos Police Command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi is yet to be received as at the time of filling this report.
