Breaking: Nyako abducted at his Yola home

The police in Adamawa state has confirmed the kidnap of Alhaji Dahiru Nyako, at Yola his home town.

The 90-year-old victim is an elder brother to the former governor of the state Murtala Nyako, he was kidnapped by the gunmen at about 2 a.m Thursday.

Confirming the report, the Police Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the state, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, stated that the victim was kidnapped by suspected criminals on Thursday at about 2 a.m. in his residence at Mayo -Belwa town, headquarters of Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area.

Nguroje said, “The command had already deployed Anti-kidnapping and Operation Farauta Squads for quick response and rescue missions,”

Before now, Mayo -Belwa, Jada, Ganye and Toungo local government areas in southern Adamawa have been under siege due to the activities of kidnappers.

The Gangwari of Ganye Chiefdom, comprising Jada, Ganye and Toungo LGAs, Alhaji Umaru Sanda, recently raised the alarm over the insecurity situation in his territory.

Sanda who is among the first-class traditional rulers in Adamawa, and a large scale farmer, decried the high level of threat which insecurity in the area has brought to bear on agricultural activities in the domain.
