NANS calls for immediate removal of Ogun customs Controller

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has given a seven-day ultimatum for the immediate removal of the Controller, Ogun State Command, Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Mr Michael Agbara for the incessant killing of Nigerian students in the area.

NANS, the umbrella body of all students in Nigeria, in a statement jointly signed with the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), on Monday, called on the Comptroller General,NSC, Colonel Hameed Ali (rtd), to effect his removal from the command or face the full anger of the students.

The release signed by the National Vice President, NANS, Ojo Raymond, and National President, NAOSS, Gbemileke Ogunrombi, decried the incessant killings of students and other residents of various Ogun State border communities in the name of fighting smugglers as unacceptable.

The associations said their previous engagements of the agency in the past appears not to be yielding any result, even as they are not holding them back from doing their statutory duty.

“We are not asking the men of the Nigerian Customs Service not to do their job, but we don’t want the killings of our people all in the name of fighting smugglers.

“The way in which the men of the Nigerian Customs Service discharge their duties in Ogun State is not only reckless but also dangerous.

“We have explored all available means of cautioning the officials of the NCS in the state, but they have continued to perpetrate this evil. It’s high time your men stop this inhumane treatment on our people,” the associations said.
