The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a total of forty-one suspected armed robbers as well as nipped in the board, twenty-eight robbery attempt in th month of June.

The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, disclosed this yesterday during the command’s press briefing for the month of June in Lagos.

Odumosu, while reeling out the statistics, said, a total of 28 armed robbery attempts were foiled, while one armed robber died during exchange of gun-fire with the police. 

He said one hundred and ninety-five suspects were arrested for cultism, four suspects arrested for kidnapping, while fifty-two were arrested for  murder.

The state recorded six cases of suicide and four attempted ones. A total of nineteen firearms and ammunition of different calibre along with cutlasses, axes,  other dangerous weapons and criminal charms were as well recovered.

The command also recovered six stolen vehicles and in its effort to rid the state of illicit drugs, its surveillance team intercepted three- hundred bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp (cannabis sativa) and other illicit drugs. Nine suspected fraudsters who specialize in duping people with fake US dollars currency (wash-wash) were arrested with their so-called black boxes and operational vehicles.

The commissioner stated that in sustaining the war against rape, the command has in the last one month arrested thirty cases of rape and defilement, while  twenty-three suspects were arrested for domestic violence and two suspects for child abuse.

On COVID-19 enforcement, the command successfully arrested 3,375 violators. Out of the figures, 2,600 were arrested for violating curfew, 208 arrested for not wearing face masks, 90 arrested for not maintaining social distance and 477 arrested for interstate travel.

He further disclosed that 1,506 vehicles were impounded including 210 vehicles arrested for interstate travel, while1,858 motorcycles and tricycles were also seized by the command.
